Holidays Bring Family Together

So as you know this past weekend was the fourth of July. July is a hard month for me to deal with. My moms birthday is July 5th and she passed away on July 30, 2003. But the fourth of July is always a great way to spend time with family and remember those who are not with us anymore.

Our daughter is 5 years old and every year we have bought a couple hundred dollars worth of fireworks for her to enjoy. But this year we did it different. We were at my father in laws house for the weekend and Dad didn't think it was a good idea for our daughter to have any fireworks, so we agreed, you never know what may happen.

Even though we didn't buy her fireworks she was content with watching the fireworks. Like every other year we took her to the big downtown fireworks, but not this year. She was mad when we first told her that we weren't going. Of course, what kid wouldn't be mad that they cant go see the fireworks.

As it began to get dark, our daughter kept asking about the fireworks and we told her to wait til it was all the way dark. And sure enough about ten minutes later, the neighbors started their show.

Everywhere you looked in the sky all you saw was fireworks, blocks and blocks of them. So really we didn't need to go to one big show we had many of them.

As the neighbors did their fireworks, you could hear the left overs from the sky hit the ground and the cars on the streets. It was a very crazy fourth of July, I had never seen anything like that ever...Definately one that we will always remember.

But the fourth of July also brought my in law family together and we had a great time. Our daughter loves her papa and her uncles and rally doesnt bother us too much when we are there. We barbequed of course, had baked beans and the works. Great family time for all of us, especially my husband who just recently reunited with his family after 18 years. Imagine what that is like.

Just remember when holidays come celebrate and remember those that cant be with you on that day. Smile dont cry..
